About Us

Welcome From Vice Provost Matt Snipp

As the name of our office suggests, we are focused on three main areas of support for the Stanford professoriate.  Our focus in faculty development ranges from writing workshops to briefings for department chairs about important developments around the University.  We host an annual workshop with the Provost to discuss with untenured faculty, the process of tenure and promotion at the University.  Our efforts in faculty diversity include incentive programs to encourage schools and departments to hire diverse faculty, consultations with search committees about strategies for recruiting diverse faculty, and the IDEAL post-doctoral fellowship program.  Faculty engagement entails activities to build a sense of community and we work with a variety of different faculty groups to facilitate these connections.

This description of our office’s work is not an exhaustive list but I hope that it gives you a sense of who we are and what we do.  There is so much more that could be said about our office’s work and too much for this short letter of welcome.

Instead, I invite you to peruse the resources available on this web site and if you would like to learn more about our office, please contact us.  We would love to meet you, learn more about you, and hear any ideas that you may have to help us assist the Stanford faculty advance their careers.

With my very best wishes,

Matt Snipp
