Promotion and Tenure

Stanford's policy and process related to promotions and tenure are described in the Faculty Handbook.

Faculty are encouraged to check with their school for any specific policies and procedures. 

Eligible pre-tenure faculty will be invited to attend an annual Tenure Conversation event.

Faculty Affairs

The Faculty Affairs division of the Provost's Office is responsible for implementation of University policy regarding appointments and promotions, salary setting, leaves, endowed chair appointments, appeals, and other matters of an academic nature.
