Women of Color in the Academy Conference Report

2018

This report documents outcomes and learnings from the Women of Color in the Academy Conference in March 2017,  organized by Stanford's Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity, the first of its kind at Stanford.  The mission of the Stanford Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity includes enabling the success of underrepresented faculty and cultivating a pipeline to recruit future faculty of color to the University. Towards fulfilling this mission, we obtained funding from Stanford University’s provost to support the conference “Women of Color in the Academy – Staying Fit: Mind, Body, and Soul,” which aimed to bring together women of color early in their academic careers and to feature a variety of high-caliber, interactive sessions designed to develop skills, strategies, and knowledge for building successful academic careers as well as opportunities for informal networking.
