Faculty Quick Guide on Computing Services

 
Information Technology Systems and Services (ITSS) provides services to the Stanford community such as telecommunications services and institutional networking. ITSS can also provide you with any support you may need in the following areas: computer security, desktop, network and application support, remote network access services, and email and SUNet ID services.

Essential Stanford Software (ESS)is a collection of applications that will help you plug into the Stanford University Network (SUNet) and gain access to Stanford's computing services.  
Technology in Teaching

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a campus-wide resource for faculty, lecturers and TAs regarding all aspects of effective instruction, including the use of technology in teaching. CTL's Associate Director (Social Sciences/Technology) and Academic Technology Specialist are both available to discuss the appropriateness of instructional technology in your classes, to help identify useful technology tools, to assist with web-based course management systems, to consider technology solutions to various instructional challenges, and to do formative assessments of the technology's effectiveness.

Computer Training Services

The ITTS Instructional Program offers many types of computer instruction, ranging from classroom courses to self-paced, computer-based training. ITSS classes Mac and PC-based applications, Forsythe systems, operating systems, and Web and other Internet topics.

 

The Academic Technology Lab in Meyer Library offers several workshops each quarter specifically geared towards faculty members. Check the lab schedule for workshop descriptions and times.

 
 AXESS also is a web site where faculty and staff can sign up for classes. AXESS for Faculty Web Site provides information designed to introduce you to Axess and provide a step-by-step guide to grading, designating a grading proxy, updating grades, managing your class lists, and viewing your online course evaluations. Advisors will find instructions on how to monitor their advisees' progress and place and remove holds.
